Here’s the problem with those who hated Seth MacFarlane’s first (and, probably only) Oscars hosting gig: you’re even more predictable than the show, itself.

First, nobody knows what they want from an Oscars host and they never have. James Franco and Anne Hathaway fart an unmemorable night away and then Billy Crystal makes some old people jokes about “Tweeting” and they want someone younger and livelier. Then, MacFarlane comes on and actually does a good job with the jokes thing, and they want it all to go back to Crystal and his prune juice.

This just in: people aren’t crazy about Crash.

Sure, the movie was good, but good isn’t great. Good isn’t Best Picture. Good isn’t Brokeback Mountain, or even Capote or Good Night, and Good Luck. Or, Munich. Seriously. It’s a real question. Two years has been kind to Mark Wahlberg’s passion project, The Fighter, which turned out not only to be the greatest sports movie of 2010-2011, but maybe the best movie from that year as well. Looking back, The Social Network and The King’s Speech kind of pale in comparison. They’re not as special. They’re not as real or visceral. They’re not as honest.

Trailer Reviewer, White Cover Magazine

Through this trailer’s two minutes or 60 seconds (or however long it is), we’re constantly flooded with a lot of things true and many things untrue.

It’s not that Jennifer Aniston doesn’t believe herself when she pleads pity about her photos in every magazine from Tacoma to Timbuktu. It’s not that Jennifer Lopez doesn’t feel violated when a photographer hops on top of the wall around her mansion to catch some snaps of her and Marc Anthony suntanning.

It’s just that $ellebrity simply puts the celebrities and the paparazzi in front of us to slug it out back-and-forth and then expects us to feel effected.
