If you’re one of those people who posts a story on Mitt Romney to your Facebook wall every day, you probably found today’s comments by Alison Redford dramatic. If you’re anyone else, perhaps you just shrugged and thought, “Oh well, girls will be boys.”

Speaking in Vancouver, Alberta premier Alison Redford made what is being viewed as a shot (pot-like, in scale) as B.C. premier Christy Clark, as the two continue to spar over the Northern Gateway pipeline, which will flow oil out of A-B, across British Columbia, and out to the Pacific Ocean through Terrace.

Work for your country, not re-election, Redford urged Canada’s premiers.

That is a shot at Clark, because the woman won’t get re-elected next May, even though she is desperately trying.

“I am Filipina,” anyone?

It is, however, surprising that that quote was picked up and passed around, since it was in the middle of a much larger and longer speech given to the Canadian Bar Association in Vancouver.

In an ensuing media scrum, Redford played nice with the people of B.C. Hey, maybe she’ll win May’s election.

“It’s entirely appropriate for people in British Columbia to have a discussion with respect to whether or not this makes sense for people in British Columbia,” she said, according to the Calgary Herald. “It’s important for us all as political leaders to work together to ensure there is access to international markets and that there isn’t any particular province that should get more access or less access to international markets based on a geographical location.

Well, okay. So, there you have it.

Work together. Be nice. Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what B.C. can do for you.

In all earnestness and honesty, there’s little here to read into besides what we need to read into to make the news cycle live and thrive like a much holier and valuable place than it currently is.

Is this a real cat fight, or is there just Kibble on the floor?

And, hey, the Olympics just ended. So, we need to talk about something. (Hey, by the way, where’s Shane Doan?)
