Hooray! Finally! Plan the parade route! College football will be having a playoff to decide the national champion, and it couldn’t have come soon enough!

Oh, it’s not coming until 2014, you say? Well, fair enough, I guess.

So, that’s nice. We’ll have college football after we have the Sochi Olympics. By that time, Roberto Luongo might be a New York Islander again, seeing as how he’s planning on giving his career a symmetrical shape. Hell, there will be another Rocky before there’s a college playoff.

Listen, there’s probably some systematic reason why you have to wait so long. Like, something about implementation and scheduling, or whatever. But, really? Is there? Because, honestly, all you have to do is take the Final Four teams and make them face each other. You know, 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3.

And, really, even then that’s not good enough. How can college basketball increase the size of March Madness when they already have 65 teams facing off while college football is trying things out with four?

There must be a reason these guys are waiting so long…

Oh, of course. Listen, we’re all for capitalizing on whatever opportunity you have, especially in a sport that sees the athletes get nothing except for a few broken dreams, but couldn’t you have sped this up? You knew it was coming.

No, that’s not the big question. The big question really is, “Who will sponsor it?”
